How to Apply for SCDC Housing Assistance

The SCDC Application Process
The process below describes the planned framework for restarting the programs. The final process may vary by funding source and program.
SCDC announces that a specific program is accepting applications and publishes its current guidelines.
Applicants provide the requested information so SCDC can determine whether the household appears to meet basic program requirements.
Applicants provide required income, household, housing, property and financing documents.
SCDC reviews the application under the written rules and verifies information as required.
Approved applicants receive written information about assistance, conditions and any required closing or funding documents.
Documents You May Need
The final checklist will depend on the program. Applicants may be asked for items such as:
- Government-issued identification.
- Household income documentation.
- Employment or benefit information.
- Recent bank or asset documentation when required.
- Current housing information.
- Mortgage preapproval or lender information, when applicable.
- Purchase contract and property information, when applicable.
- Documentation supporting a special housing need, when required by the program.

Housing Counseling & Homebuyer Education
Depending on the funding source, counseling or homebuyer education may be required. HUD distinguishes individualized housing counseling from general education workshops and notes that certain HUD-funded programs have specific counseling requirements.
